JAYDEN – Grad Banquet

Grad! or prom as it’s called for our southern friends 😉 has long since come and gone!! My website was under construction and it was killing me to wait so long to post these! BUT I’m glad the new site looks SO much better 🙂

I can’t believe that we’ve made it through another school year and another one has started. I had the privilege of photographing Jayden for her senior photos back in June (you can check those out here, and then also for her grad/prom photos before she took off to party like it’s 1999! hahah I’m such a nerd. I couldn’t resist! This year was the last of the ’90’s kids to graduate!! Man that makes me feel old. I graduated in 1999!! Ahhh! Isn’t it amazing how fast time flies!? Makes me want to dig out my grad photos…

Anyways, Jayden looked absolutely stunning in her dress. She ordered it off of PromGirl and I’m amazed that all she needed for altering was the length! It was perfect on her! Her hair looked incredible! I loved how it was perfectly imperfect. I love doing make up and she trusted me to do hers for the banquet (no pressure, right?).

Her boyfriend, who is super sweet, had flown in all the way from Minnesota to be there for her graduation. They looked absolutely adorable together and it sounds like they had a great time at the banquet. We were able to grab a few photos with mom and dad before they headed down to the banquet. I’m glad her parents were able to be in on some of the pictures, it’s just as important to them as it was her. Congrats Jayden and I wish you all the best as you start your new journey at Brigham Young University!

JAYDEN – Grad 2017

It was an absolute pleasure taking grad photos for this beautiful girl. Today I’d like to you meet Jayden. Smart, talented and kind are just a few of the words that come to mind when I think about this young woman. Jayden is a senior at Robert Thirsk High School. She used to be a competitive dancer, and she loves to ski, go on hikes, and read.

I have to mention that I am SO happy the schools have started to let the kids have their cap and gown a couple days before the grad ceremonies. I loved that we were able to use them in her photo shoot. When I was graduating (way back in the day), they let us pick up our gown about an hour before the ceremony started and then we had to turn them in as soon as it was over. It didn’t leave much time for photos with them. Glad that has changed!!

I asked Jayden whether she had any advice to offer others who were getting ready to take senior pictures. This is what she had to share:

“Just have fun while having your pictures taken because some of the best pictures are the ones where you’re laughing or being yourself! Don’t stress and have fun with it,” Jayden said.

After high school, Jayden will be attending Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo and taking a Bachelor of Science in Neurology. That’s pretty impressive!!

Jayden’s younger sister came along to the shoot, so we snuck a few photos of the two of them together. I’m so happy she came along as I think they will treasure these for years to come!

Best of luck to you, Jayden. I know you’ll do wonderful things!

GORDON FAMILY

Meet the wonderful Gordon family! I felt honored that they would make the long drive from Edmonton so that I could photograph their family. Thanks, you guys! We had a lot of fun and dad was making a lot of ridiculous faces to get the kids to smile. It’s not always easy to get natural smiles out of teenage boys (I know, I have one haha!) but dad had everyone in smiling. It was all behind my back, so I’m still a little nervous as to what was really going on, but regardless, it was worth it! Thanks for the wonderful morning, Gordon family! And if you’re wondering, yes, this is Confederation Park. I love this little spot. It’s so lovely.

I am ecstatic to see this photo of the Gordon family on a 30×40″ canvas that they’ve ordered!! I think this image was my favorite family shot from their session and turns out it was theirs too! Can’t wait to see it up on their wall. I absolutely LOVE it when not only do clients get their photos printed but go BIG! Print your photos people!! There’s something about seeing your family photos printed and not on a computer. Hang them on your walls. Print them and put them in an old school photo album. Boho Chic – MADDY

I had the most amazing session with this beautiful girl. Maddy and I worked together on what we wanted for her session, and we both agreed that a boho chic feel would be awesome. I love the details of the lace shirt she wore, simply lovely!

It was the perfect summer night for Maddy’s session. We headed out to Glenbow Ranch near Cochrane and the lighting and location could not have been any better! I have to say how much I absolutely love photographing teenagers! Most are very comfortable in front of a camera and actually enjoy their photo being taken with this beauty being no exception! Thanks for the fabulous night and a huge thanks to my wonderful friend, Caitlin, for doing Maddy’s hair and being the perfect assistant!!
