8 Year Old Baptism Portrait Session

Spring in Calgary came early and I couldn’t be happier!! It was the perfect time for Georgia’s baptism portrait session as she is about to turn 8, so we went down to Edworthy Park while the blossoms were out. We couldn’t have picked a better day either as the snow hit a few days later! I am so excited for Georgia and her decision to be baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Congrats Georgia!!

Doesn’t she look darling in her baptism dress?! Georgia is a kind and sweet girl, and full of spunk. Quick story… Georgia and my son, Will, have been buddies since they were itty bitty and they play like brother and sister. We’ve always taught Will to treat girls with kindness and respect. Well, a few years ago while Will and Georgia are playing I get a text from Georgia’s mom with a video of the two of them. What it looks like to me is a video of Will attacking Georgia! I was mortified and responded quickly with apologies and “there will be consequences” and “I’ll be having a talk with him” to which she replied “don’t worry. Georgia round house kicked him!! She’s totally holding her own and loving it!” haha. Thankfully the wrestling matches between the two have come to an end, but I hope they stay buddies forever!

Mother’s Day was just around the corner from our session date so we thought it would be nice to add mom to the photos. Everyone should have photos with their mom! Such beautiful ladies. Can you believe this mama has FOUR girls!

OK, last but not least I had to throw these outtakes in from our little baptism portrait session. Georgia is so full of spunk and personality! I seriously love this kid!!

First Steps – Lifestyle Family Session

When this darling family contacted me about doing a lifestyle family session to capture their daughter’s first steps I was so excited! How fun to do be able to capture this little milestone. I love love LOVE being able to capture special moments in people’s lives whether it’s a wedding or a little one’s first steps. Each moment is so precious.

I absolutely love that this mom of soon to be 2 girls wanted to be IN the pictures. How many moms out there can relate to feeling like you’re never in the photos because you’re the one taking them? As a mom you are right there next to your child, encouraging and teaching BUT most of the time behind the camera wanting to make sure you capture it, to remember it forever. I love that this mom wanted to have images showing that she was right along side her little one, and what a treasure to have! We had such a fun morning getting little Lia to walk back and forth between mom and dad. Thanks for having me in your home – it was so much fun. And, how awesome is that green piano!!

Winter Maternity

I had the most wonderful winter maternity session with this lovely lady. Maren and her hubby are officially expecting a little lady to join their family of 6! Yup, this is baby number 5! Doesn’t she look amazing! This little bundle of cuteness is set to arrive in February and mom and dad cannot wait for her arrival. So far, Maren has had a somewhat tough pregnancy, but things are looking up in the last trimester and she is counting down the days until little miss is welcomed to the world.

I’m so glad Maren decided to brave the snow! We met in Red Deer at the Kerry Wood Nature Center and it was the perfect winter wonderland for her winter maternity photo session.

Kwasney Family

Hello friends! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday with your family and friends. It was nice to take a little break and focus on Christmas and spending time with my family.

Now, it’s about time I posted this session. What can I say about this awesome family besides the fact that I had an absolute blast with them. I don’t think I’ve laughed so much during a session. My sides were aching by the time we were finished. Way too much fun! At the end of the session we recreated a family photo from many years ago. It was hilarious trying to get all these now adult bodies into the pose of when they were kids. I love being able to recreate memories and help families create new memories.

Thanks for the great afternoon, Kwasney family. You guys are the best!

I have had the privilege of photographing this awesome family for the past few years. It has been so fun to watch the kids grow. And it’s awesome that the kids know me a little better now and it’s not so overwhelming for them when I get up close and personal with the camera 😉 I love that mom always has the whole family looking awesome!
